our story
At OnBio, energy is more than a word. it's our purpose
Our founder Tom Crooke, a Location Manager with 20 years of experience in UK production, recognised a glaring absence of sustainable options in the fuel and hire sector.
This led him to establish OnBio in 2014.
His goal? To advocate for renewable fuel and technologies and demonstrate their capacity to reliably power film and TV productions.
Only a decade later, OnBio leads the UK's Film & tv industry’s shift towards renewable energy
We're at the forefront of driving a renewable future in the film industry and reshaping the film and TV industry's understanding of sustainability.
We are not only providing cleaner energy but also powering the future of environmentally responsible productions.
What our clients say…
"I have used Onbio for my renewable fuel, heating and air con requirements and can safely say that their service is the best I have encountered. They understand the film industry and go above and beyond to get the job done."

1% For the planet pledge
We are proud to support Surfers Against Sewage by donating 1% of our net hire sales to this amazing charity.
For the past 30 years Surfers Against Sewage have tirelessly campaigned for cleaner UK waterways and oceans. Through their sometimes humorous and always engaging campaigns, they have managed to keep plastic and water pollution in the news. Despite this, only 36% of UK surface waters (rivers, lakes and coastal waters) are currently classified as being of high or good status, whilst only 14% of English rivers are of good ecological status and to date not a single river has attained good chemical status*.
OnBio hopes that by supporting Surfers Against Sewage and being active in helping to keep our local waterways rubbish free we are able to play a small part in improving our essential and much-loved waterways and oceans.
To this end, the OnBio team are also doing regular litter picks with the SAS’s Million Mile Beach Clean. See when the next event is on HERE.
