Why we support Surfers Aginst Sewage
Whenever I have the chance to get away, I head to the sea, particularly the Cornish coast. It’s where I recharge my batteries, reconnect with nature and attempt to surf (badly). I have a deep respect for our oceans. Not only do they produce half the world’s oxygen, whilst simultaneously absorbing half of all human-made carbon dioxide via oceanic plankton, but they also control our weather systems and support 50% to 80% of all life on earth.
Without heathy oceans we’re in trouble!
1% FOR OUR PLANET
I believe businesses should give some of their profits back to their local community or in support of our environment. For me, deciding where to direct our support was a no-brainer. I’ve long admired Surfers Against Sewage for the way they combine serious campaigning with humour and outrage. That’s why OnBio gives 1% of all our hire and services gross turnover to Surfers Against Sewage. I’ve seen first-hand how well they connect with local communities, lobby our government and annoy and embarrass our failing water utility companies.
SAVE OUR RIVERS AND OCEANS FROM SEWAGE
We’re all aware of the poor state of our rivers and oceans, but the true scale of the problem has largely been hidden until now.
New analysis of Environment Agency data by the Observer has revealed the true extent of sewage spills into our rivers and oceans. On average there have been five significant polluting events every day for the past decade.
Join the Movement
At OnBio, we believe in making a difference—both on and off the set. In addition to our financial contribution, we all roll up our sleeves and get involved directly. We have participated in SAS's Million Mile Beach Clean initiative by organising regular litter picks. These events not only help clean up our local shores but also raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean waterways.
I invite you to join us in supporting Surfers Against Sewage. Whether your part of the film industry or work in sustainability, your involvement can make a significant difference. Keep an eye out for their next beach clean event here.
Let's make waves for a cleaner future!
